Coconut Chutney Recipe

Coconut Chutney is primarily a south Indian delicacy, which goes well with lot of food items like rice, idli and dosa. These food items are consumed in south Indian states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka to name a few. Coconut chutney could be taken with snacks or during meals.

Ingredients for Coconut Chutney:

  1. Fresh coconut: 2 cups
  2. Red chilli: 10 (dry)
  3. Curry leaves: A few
  4. Asafetida: A sizable pinch (hing)
  5. Fenugreek seeds: 1/2 tsp (methi)
  6. Urad dal: 2 tsp
  7. Channa dal: 2 tsp
  8. Tomato: 1
  9. Salt to taste

Method of preparation for Coconut Chutney:

Pour some oil in the pan and put in on gas. Add dal, hing, red chillies, methi and curry leaves to it. Fry it till it is done. Now add coconut and tomato and stir it continuously to blend it into a smooth paste. Finally add salt to taste.

Coconut chutney is ready. This chutney is best with dosa or idli.
